All ages gigs tops Summer events

A campaign to create opportunities to connect Mid West musicians and performers with new audiences kicked off on New Years Eve with the wildly popular, ‘NYE Water Park Party’ on the Geraldton foreshore. Nearly 200 people attended the all ages event, enjoying the waterpark, picnics and Summer party set list and entertainment by DJ Andrea.

Free musical entertainment is not unheard of in the Geraldton CBD but this is the first time there has been a DJ set performed specifically for families with young children. Surprising remixes of nursery rhyme classics were spun alongside clean radio edit techno classics that resonated with the mid-life nostalgic ravers. The activity was simple and carefree, and so popular, event organisers decided to run an encore event setting up a ‘Back to School Water Park Party’ in late January.

This activity was made possible with support from the Mid West Development Commission through a Strengthening Communities grant.

Following on from the water park parties, Regional Sounds brought the performances back-in house with ‘Tunes on the Tree Deck’ in late February and have plans for many more live music events in 2025.
